KDD ocean data analytics industry connector event

17 Aug 2017
2:00pm - 5:00pm ADT

Are you a company active in the ocean economy dealing with data derived from the ocean or human activity related to the ocean? Are you interested in expanding your products or services in the direction of data analytics?  This event aims to connect you with academic experts right here at home in Nova Scotia in areas such as data science, visual analytics, data visualization, human-computer interaction, mobile interfaces, high-performance and cloud computing.

Participation is free, courtesy of the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI).

The SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discover and Data Mining (KDD) (http://www.kdd.org/kdd2017/)  is the premier interdisciplinary conference bringing together researchers and practitioners from data science, data mining, knowledge discovery, large-scale data analytics, and big data. It was brought to Halifax this year by the Big Data Analytics Institute and the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University.

Participating companies and academics will bring a poster describing their R&D activities, requirements and research interests, and mingle to exchange ideas and explore partnership potential.

A brief presentation of the funding programs that support industry-academic partnerships available from funding agencies NSERC and Mitacs will be given.
